Most people sign up for DSL because you get a much faster connection than with dial-up internet service. But, cable TV often comes with a higher price tag and is also limited to viewing one channel at a time. They can fit all budgets as long as you know what you really need.
dsl connection speed
Well, these games are one of the reasons to upgrade to high speed DSL. Service at 9,000 feet distance is nearly eight times as fast as service over 18,000 feet. Though the security in both the connections is good; people always had more confidence in DSL. But what's the use of having all these great things at your disposal if it takes forever to download to the point you'd rather not bother? Most home-based DSL will be ASDL or 'asymmetric', meaning that download speeds will be faster than upload speeds. That's storage for a whole lot of emails!
Many people find that using an internal DSL modem is actually not a great idea. Why? There are a host of reasons, but most importantly, because it comes without hardware support which is a crucial factor for the connection. The internal DSL connection was a choice worthy of consideration in the past, but this is not so today. Today, it is wiser to have an external adapter than an internal one because it comes with the critical technical support without which you will not be able to really enjoy the connection to its full potential.
Two Choices
Now, you have two major choices here -- one is to get your DSL connection modem through a third party and the other is to get one from your own ISP provider. The second option is much better as the DSL connection will often come with specific ISP network configuration and any variation will create trouble to the connectivity. Also the third party will not be able to give you the required back-up when necessary.
The first choice is feasible only when you can choose your own hardware. However, though this information will be available with your ISP provider (technical support) they may not be too keen to share it with you. If you can use your own hardware for the DSL connection, then you can look for a third-party product, which will have both the router and adapter in one body. In this way you will also save some cash on the system.
Remember
One important thing that you should know before you make your own choice is that when you install your own hardware, you will not be able to avail yourself of any technical support from your ISP provider - which can be a pretty bad setback. Hence, it would be better if you choose to use the hardware that your ISP provider has to offer because in the long run you will need their expertise and technical support in maintaining your connection trouble free.
Solution
There is a third choice: you could share your DSL connection using the ICS or the internet connection sharing. This also has a few drawbacks - like it will need the computer on all the time - but at the same time will solve your problem without any further complications. You will be able to use more than one computer on one connection without any additional cost.
